Hello everyone!Today’s Tale Tuesday will be a little different. We will uncover some of the old concepts, ideas and art behind our first ever game – Market Dominion. I bet it’s going to be an interesting one, so let’s get right into it!
We mentioned big delays, development sturggles and other very inconvinient things that troubled Iguana Mercenary for a big part of its beginning. It was hard to fight it. Our activity dropped, there wasn’t much we could do due to rising personal issues. Posts dropped down to one every few weeks. It wasn’t that bad yet.
Delays happen everywhere. They happen at the smallest video game studios, but also at the giant companies. The reasons for delays might be different, but in our case it was always pretty much the same.We either didn’t have time or weren’t experienced enough.
The development started looking really well. We had working prototype we kept developing, we had our image, we announced who we are and what are we doing – everything was prepared. We were doing nicely. We’ve made a website and announced everything. As I had a little less work to do (due to lack ofContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #7 – Unexpected problems”
Before we start, I would like to announce that the form of Tale Tuesday changes from now on. Thank you and sorry for the inconvinience if you were really interested in the seriesContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #6 – What are we?”
In the last Tale Tuesday, we’ve touched the topic of concept arts. Even as I said previously: “concepts were quite useful”. Today, we’ll focus on that topic more: how helpful concept arts really are? How do they shape the development? I will base of my own experience with them.
We were a small game dev studio. We had no one, but ourselves and we had no budget to have anyone else. Anyone who wanted to help, was free to do so at their own will. However, I knew that someone will have to take care of the graphics. Michael clarified that he is terribleContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #4 – A game artist from nothing”
After preparing the very basics, we’ve started to finally wonder about the truly interesting thing: the prototype. We wanted to finally get on it. So we’ve started the real search – engine. We didn’t want to end up being stuck in some big engine, also because of the preferences of the developers. One of us really doesn’tContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #3 – Market Dominion – in prototype version”
– Michael, how well do you know C#? Would you be able to create a game? – I used to know C# quite well and I probably could make a game. What did you have in mind? – I was thinking about creating a game, it’s on my mind for a long time. That’s aContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #2 – Before the app”
Hello everyone! Today is the first day of describing my adventure as a game designer and developer. I hope that this series will continue for quite a long time and it will take some time before I run out topics to talk about! It’s always good to have some more ideas for the future.First, I’dContinue reading “TALE TUESDAY #1 – First days”
