A new post will appear every other week on Ko-Fi and will be reposted a week after on the website on Tuesdays. Thank you and sorry for the inconvinience if you were really interested in the series so often!

The prototype was finally going well, we’ve worked a lot to prepare the basic version of the game. The progress was made and we’ve been on the right track. Weeks were passing and soon, we would have to finally announce our presence and the plans.

TALE TUESDAY #5 – How helpful concept arts are?

In the last Tale Tuesday, we’ve touched the topic of concept arts. Even as I said previously: “concepts were quite useful”. Today, we’ll focus on that topic more: how helpful concept arts really are? How do they shape the development? I will base of my own experience with them.

TALE TUESDAY #4 – A game artist from nothing

We were a small game dev studio. We had no one, but ourselves and we had no budget to have anyone else. Anyone who wanted to help, was free to do so at their own will. However, I knew that someone will have to take care of the graphics. Michael clarified that he is terrible at this stuff and doesn’t want to touch it, so I had to step up and figure it out.
Before, I had very little experience with creation of graphics. I knew it’s time to start if I want anything to come out of it for the game. For most of the day I’ve been playing around and trying different things, making sure everything I do, in the end I am satisfied with. I’ve started taking notes to see and remember what I was doing worse and needed polishing. I’ve started improving my old designs.

TALE TUESDAY #3 – Market Dominion – in prototype version

After preparing the very basics, we’ve started to finally wonder about the truly interesting thing: the prototype.
We wanted to finally get on it. So we’ve started the real search – engine.
We didn’t want to end up being stuck in some big engine, also because of the preferences of the developers. One of us really doesn’t like Unity. We have been looking around for free for commercial use engines. After a little search, we found an interesting engine called Duality. It seemed really nice and simple. We’ve decided to use it for Market Dominion. After that decision, we’ve started working on a prototype.

TALE TUESDAY #2 – Before the app

– Michael, how well do you know C#? Would you be able to create a game?

– I used to know C# quite well and I probably could make a game. What did you have in mind?

That’s how it all started.
And it continues.
